Meet The Team
Lothar Quint
Lothar grew up on a steady diet of sci-fi, fantasy and superheroes, in an era when that kind of nonsense got you stuffed in a locker. He counts, among his favorites, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Batman, The Prisoner and many more, too numerous to mention. He has an unhealthy fondness for cheesy 70's sci-fi, Planet of the Apes movies, saturday morning cartoons, and superheroes. While writing this bio, Lothar is busy watching the Lost in Space episode where the robot falls in love with an evil android. And he's loving every minute of it.
Gleep Glop
I remember when Spidey went cosmic to save the Marvel heroes during the Acts of Vengeance. I remember sneaking out of my house on a school night in high school for the midnight release of Pearl Jam’s 2nd album. I remember staring at the other people in the room, mouth agape, when the camera swung around from Locutus to Riker as the latter gave the order to “Fire.” I remember passing the phone around to listen to the sports hotline because nobody believed Douglas had knocked out Tyson. I remember finding Warren Robinett’s secret room in Adventure. I remember being riveted to the movie screen as Autobots not only got shot, but died…and cursed! I remember when Jonas was chosen by the elders to be the community’s new Receiver. I remember CBGB’s, City Gardens, Birch Hill, and Club Bene. I remember Cobra-La. I remember Bill Hicks’ advice to anyone working in advertising. I remember Norwood sailing wide right, Starks dunking of Jordan, and Charlie Hayes squeezing the glove for the final out. I still hear the score from Metroid in my sleep. I spent too many days off with Ferris. I frequented Simon Milligan’s Pit Of Ultimate Evil. I deeply miss making mix tapes. I was a minion of Gozer. I will make sure history never forgets the name…Enterprise. I will remember. Hope you do too…
Mine Is An Evil Laugh
I love writing.I love films. I saw Serenity eleven times in the theaters. I remember seeing Alien in 1979 and being scared witless. Ghostbusters is still to this day the funniest movie I’ve ever seen and it was without a doubt my greatest movie-going experience. I missed whole scenes because the entire theater was laughing hysterically. That’s never happened before or since. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite movie of all time.I love music. A great deal of my life has been spent listening to music. I used to make mixed tapes like crazy. As such I love how technology has enhanced music. Whereas before I had to get up and flip the album over to side two, I can now make a 6000 song playlist for the entire weekend and never have to get up.I love the psychedelic 60s, the cool 70s, and especially New Wave. Also the Madchester scene. I dig The Clash, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Tones on Tail, Joy Division, The Beatles, Grand Funk Railroad, and too many others to mention. I love pizza.Wait, are other people going to read this?
Bow Ties Are Cool
To be read in the voice of a small child:Bow Ties Are Cool is an avid comic book collector. His collection once numbered in the thousands. Exasperated Man
Really? I have to write a profile! Who the hell cares about my background? Ok, you wanna know who I am? I'm that stereotypical guy who grew up loving Star Trek, memorized all the episode names, and didn't have sex with a girl until I was 23. I got beat up for wearing my Captain Kirk shirt to school, I was shunned by girls because I'd correct them when they said they're favorite Star Trek character was Dr. Spock, and I laid all the ground work that lead to geek culture becoming mainstream. So when you little geek punks go to a Sci-Fi convention and there are babes everywhere dressed as superheroes, you can thank me. When your girlfriend wears a Mario Bros. t-shirt and plays Call of Duty with you on a Friday night instead of dragging you to some Manhattan dance club, you can thank me. And when you marry said girlfriend and she lets you name your kid Han, you can thank me. I suffered through model spaceships on strings, superheroes who didn't fight super villains, and nipples on Bat Suits so you could enjoy what you have today. I'm the Malcolm X of the geek world. And I have a blog.
